Our friendship with the Environmental Protection Agency, the United States Geological Society, and the New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection offers STEMCivics students a special opportunity to engage in project-based and career-based learning activities, working alongside professionals in the field.

Students’ learning experiences are enhanced by incorporating resources of these governmental agencies into the curriculum. In addition, students will identify problems in their community, and then design and implement projects to address these problems. One example is the study of air quality. Trenton’s location, near an airport, in a city, and near a river, offers students a great opportunity to study environmental issues and to recommend solutions. In this way, STEMCivics students will become citizen scientists.
