From Handprints to Engineered Hands

SEPT. 16, 2022  Faithful Purple Lightning Current readers might recognize that lady on the left above, who adorned this publication during her days as a founding student in the PURPLEfect Empire. Yup, that's Mikia Jones '18, who is now our pre-engineering teacher at the sacred terra of PURPLEfect Parc. Her handprint is one of the special handprints on the wall made by the founding class members.

This week, she assigned the best kids ever the task of engineering prosthetic hands. Terminator fans are especially enjoying this project.

Although seventeen former students are now working in some capacity in the Empire (dean lites, office managers, tutors, etc.), Mikia is our first full-time teacher. The building of our community, first students, then staff members, and finally having their children attend our schools, has taken another step forward.

Using STEM to inspire academic excellence, civic engagement, and to ensure students are ready for college and careers.
